Elizabeth is an online tangible goods & lifestyle brand emerging from the foundations of Rusty Rooster Life.Style. The brick & mortar store being a much-loved gem of the Cumberland community for 14 years and counting, this new evolution to elizabeth is more than an extension into an online & in-house brand.
I created elizabeth out of a deep desire to have a website that feels authentic, that has more meaning to me by making some of the products I share with you. In Rusty Rooster I often get customers asking me what products I use. Being able to share the products I cherish and are a part of my daily rituals and routines on elizabeth is a way to connect better with you - my customers and community.
My name is Paola Elizabeth and I was born in Chile. From a young age I watched my Mom craft. I watched her mend, knit, sew, and create magic with her hands. Although I did not know the full extent of this in my younger years, her creativity and efforts imprinted on me. In my early twenties the idea of homesteading really resonated with me. I admired the old ways of mending and making, growing your own food and keeping farm animals. I was drawn to it. I would read about it, look through magazines, and dream of having this lifestyle one day. I would recall the history of my family who cultivated and grew crops, and loved when people would liken me to my Grandmother who sold farm products out of her own little shop and kept a flock of chickens whom she loved.
Hunkering down on our farm acreage on Denman Island during the pandemic really brought home how much my internal joy is connected to my surroundings. I am grateful to be living my dreams- raising animals, growing food in our garden, homesteading, making food for my family, and intentionally using practical products that make me feel good. I have been cultivating my own little magic with my hands, designing and sewing functional clothing that make me feel beautiful while I work in my garden or bake in my kitchen. Introducing you to everyday products I cherish and articles I've created myself gets me truly excited. I hope they will also become your cherished products.
